Mobai and Partisia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore a joint offering that combines biometric identity verification with reusable digital identity credentials.
The collaboration aims to address a key challenge in digital identity: ensuring that the person using a verified digital identity is actually the legitimate holder.
Mobai provides biometric verification technology, including face recognition, liveness detection, deepfake protection and document verification. This helps establish a trusted link between a real person and their digital identity. Partisia provides privacy-preserving digital identity infrastructure, including eIDAS 2.0-compatible verifiable credentials and digital identity wallets. Together, the companies are exploring how biometric verification can be turned into reusable digital credentials that individuals can securely store and use across multiple services.
Brage Strand, CEO, Mobai, says:
"A credential can be technically valid and still end up in the wrong hands. Reusability, the whole promise of digital identity wallets, only holds up if the link between the credential and the human being behind it is solid."
Ole Christian Olssøn, VP Sales & Marketing, Mobai, says:
"Biometric verification creates trust. The next question is how that trust can be securely and efficiently reused across digital services. Combining Mobai's biometric capabilities with Partisia's credential infrastructure creates an opportunity to make that trust portable while keeping the individual at the center of their digital identity."
Mark Medum Bundgaard, CEO, Partisia Applications ApS, says:
"The combination of biometric verification and reusable credentials creates an important link between the physical person and the digital identity they use. Mobai provides the biometric trust anchor, while Partisia provides the infrastructure for turning that trust into a reusable digital credential."
The envisioned solution would combine two key stages:
- Establish trust through biometric onboarding and identity verification.
- Reuse trust by issuing verified credentials that can be stored in a digital wallet and presented across participating services.
Potential use cases include digital onboarding, access management, financial services, payments, age verification, step-up authentication and other high-assurance digital transactions.
Verify the person. Create trusted credentials. Reuse that trust where it matters.
The companies will now explore concrete use cases where biometrics, reusable credentials and privacy-preserving digital identity can create value for organizations and end users across Europe.
